The tragic fire at Grenfell Tower in June 2017 highlighted the inadequacies of fire safety. With respect to buildings, attention was focused on external wall cladding systems and the potential associated fire risk.
An EWS1 survey provides a report of the full extent of the construction of the wall from external cladding through to internal decorative finishes.
The aim of this survey is to give an indication to the building owner that the cladding system does not pose a fire risk to the occupants that may live or work inside it.
The output of the survey is to ascertain whether any remedial works to the cladding is required against relevant codes and building standards. Our experience as Chartered Building Surveyors and as trained assessors we are competent to undertake EWS surveys to buildings under 18 metres
